Police arrested a 17-year-old for fatally stabbing another teenager in Plano earlier this week, but police said the case isn't as simple as it appears.

Jonathan Teran Rodriguez is charged with murder for the death of 16-year-old Jerry Soto. But Rodriguez told police he acted in self-defense and Soto was the aggressor.

Rodriguez claims Soto followed him and yelled gang slang at him after he walked by a home in the 3000 block of E. 15th Street late Sunday night.

Initial reports indicated Soto argued with Rodriguez and then followed him down the street. His body was found about a block away.

Police said it will be up to a grand jury to determine if there is enough evidence to try Rodriguez for murder.

Rodriguez is being held in the Collin County jail on a $1 million bond.
