Homeowner shot during robbery in upscale Plano neighborhood

Police continue to search for two masked men who broke into a west Plano home and shot the homeowner overnight.

It happened just after 2 a.m. Thursday at a home on Briar Ridge Lane, near Spring Creek Parkway and Midway Road.

A woman called 911 to say two men wearing camouflage bandanas broke into her home, came into her bedroom, woke her and husband up and demanded valuables. When her husband confronted them, she said they shot him in the abdomen.

“Somebody getting shot is a real eye opener. I mean, that really gets your attention and I know a number of the neighbors this morning were trying to figure out which of our neighbors that happened to. My neighbor closest to me was in tears this morning. I mean, it’s just not something you would expect,” said Steve Sickman, who lives in the area.

The husband went to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Police said there have not been any similar incidents in the upscale neighborhood. But they do not believe the couple or the house was specifically targeted.
