It was a big night for a dog and the volunteers who saved her after a car accident in Plano over the summer.

The Plano City Council honored the volunteer from Mutts and Mayhem Animal Rescue during Monday night’s council meeting. Labrador retriever Daisy Mae was also given not a key, but a bone to the city.

Daisy’s owners were injured in a car crash on the George Bush Turnpike in July. Daisy was also injured but ran from the scene.

The Mutts and Mayhem volunteers found her in a wooded area near the scene five days later. They nursed her back to health while her owners also recovered.
