Pedestrian killed while crossing busy Dallas street

A woman was hit and killed while crossing the street in Dallas Tuesday morning.

It happened around 9 a.m. on West Davis Street near Hampton Road. Police said 57-year-old Dora Gonzales was crossing the street, but she was not in a crosswalk.

The driver of a white SUV made a left turn onto Davis Street at the same time. Police believe the sun limited the driver's ability to see Gonzales.

The impact knocked her down and she was run over. Paramedics tried to help help, but she did not survive.

Police questioned witnesses and the driver, who did stop to help. They determined the driver was not at fault and do not expect to file charges.
