Pedestrian killed on I-635 in Dallas

A man trying to cross a busy Dallas highway died after being hit by several vehicles Wednesday morning.

Police said it happened around 6:30 a.m. on the Interstate 635 ramp to northbound Interstate 35E.

The 38-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His name will not be released until his next of kin has been notified.

The driver that initially hit him did stop to help. The SUV had major front-end damage.

Police believe at least five other vehicles hit the man's body in the roadway.

Two of those drivers called police after stopping in Coppell. They said they heard the news on the radio, looked at their vehicles and determined they were likely involved.

One driver told FOX 4 he thought he had hit a mannequin.

Police released them after taking their statements.

All lanes of the highway were shut down for an investigation, prompting major traffic delays during the morning rush hour.
