Online threat prompts 3rd arrest, added security at Arlington Heights HS

FORT WORTH, Texas - Extra security was added at Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth after shots were fired and unrelated threat was posted online.

On Friday morning student arriving on campus went through metal detectors and showed their IDs as a precaution.

The school was put on lockdown Thursday afternoon because of a possible gang-related fight in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant about a block away from campus.  A photo circulating on social media showed a teenager with a gun.

Police said one shot was fire, but no one was hurt.

Officers later arrested 17-year-old Asa Jones-Martin and charged him with resisting arrest. A 15-year-old was also charged with deadly conduct and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

A gun was found inside the school, but it ended up being a BB gun and not the one used in the McDonald’s parking lot, police said.

Also, police arrested a third 15-year-old student who was involved in a separate fight Thursday afternoon. The student allegedly went online afterward and threatened another shooting on Friday.
