One killed, several injured in church van crash along Hwy. 337 in Palo Pinto County

A church van and a car collided Friday night along state Highway 337 in Palo Pinto County, killing one person, according to Texas DPS officials.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m., about two miles north of Hwy. 180 near Turkey Creek. The van and a Mitsubishi crashed head-on, killing the driver of the Mitsubishi.

Witnesses said the van, which is from the Faith Center Assembly of God in Graham, was upside down, and the Mitsubishi caught on fire.

Seven people were inside the van at the time of the crash, ranging in age from 11 to 49.

The van's driver was taken to Palo Pinto General Hospital and then flown via air ambulance to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth.

Two of the van's passengers were taken to Palo Pinto General Hospital, three of them were taken to area hospitals, and one person was flown to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. One of the people taken to the hospital has since been discharged.

Everyone in the van at the time of the crash was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
