Officers save family, dog from Fort Worth house fire

A YouTube video uploaded Wednesday by the Fort Worth Police Department shows officers saving a family and their dog from a recent house fire.

An officer was patrolling the 4600 block of Hemphill Street in south Fort Worth early the morning of April 6 when he saw that a house was on fire.

Realizing there was a car in the driveway, the officer, Officer Cade, got out of his patrol car and began banging on the front door and shouting, "Fort Worth police!"

He went to the back of the home and saw that flames were coming up from the electric box. When he went back to the front of the home, he and his teammate, Officer Lopez, kicked down the front door and helped the residents inside get out safely.

Once outside, one of the residents told the officers that the family's dog was still inside the home, in his kennel. The officers went back inside and got the dog out.
