Oak Cliff church gets broken into, robbed

A historic Oak Cliff church was hit by thieves recently.

They busted through doors and ransacked rooms, even stealing from the children's center.

The thieves hit three buildings on the Oak Cliff campus of Tyler Street United Methodist Church.

They ransacked eight offices and other rooms, pilfering desks and looting cabinets.

Because of the mess, the pastor says it's hard to tell what's missing, but one obvious thing stolen is a 70-inch monitor that was supposed to be mounted in a new worship space.

Additionally, two laptops and an internet router were stolen.

Dallas police are investigating and they say the person who reported the burglary noticed a man at the church who claimed he was running off homeless people when approached, but then he ran away.

Police dusted the scene for fingerprints.
