A North Texas fire department had to respond to a different kind of emergency on July 4th.

An expecting couple from Meridian, Texas and their 2-year-old son were on their way to a birthing center in Cleburne on Monday morning when their baby just couldn’t wait any longer.

With help from firefighters and paramedics from the Somervell County Fire Department and Somervell County Sheriff’s Deputies, the eager baby forced an emergency birth in the family’s car on Glen Rose Highway.

Fire Chief Mike Crawford says baby Phoebe made a safe arrival into the world around 10:33 a.m. without any complications.

Paramedics were then able to escort the family to the birthing center in Cleburne.
