North Texas family beats cabin fever with own 'Uptown Funk' video

A Carrollton, TX family found a cure for their cabin fever this week: they created their own music video to Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk," complete with some sweet dance moves and lip-syncing skills.

Ali Hoffman and her parents, Michael and Michele, were stuck inside their house Monday after an ice storm shut down North Texas roads, businesses and schools. Then, creativity struck.

"We were iced in, like everyone else in North Texas, and we wanted to make a video to show our family friends how we deal with ice and to get them to make a video back," said Ali. "We called it the ice day challenge. "

Ali, 24, posted the video online, and by Tuesday, it had been watched more than 50,000 times and shared by more than 1,200 Facebook users. She had no idea it would do so well.

"We just made it for our friends and family and we posted it in Facebook for fun," she said. "I was so surprised to see the number of views and shares just skyrocket all day. It's pretty awesome."

Ali said singing and dancing together aren't out of the ordinary for her family.

"My father and I speak about healthy family relationships and this is just an example of how we have fun!" she said.
