Class to resume at Mansfield ISD school after fire

School will be back in session Wednesday for a Mansfield ISD middle school after a transformer fire blew out the power.

Late Tuesday evening, the lights came back on at Coble Middle School in Arlington after students missed two days of school.

In an emergency meeting Tuesday night, the Mansfield school board quickly approved around $224,000 worth of emergency repairs to get the school up and running again.

Nothing inside the school was damaged, but classes were canceled Monday and Tuesday.

Kelly Smith attended the meeting, hoping to learn if her son would be home Wednesday, too.

"It hasn't been disruptive for me, but I know that my son has some friends whose parents both work, and it's taken a toll on their family,” she said.
