Neighbor helps save woman and her grandson from house fire in Grapevine

A grandmother and her grandson escaped with their lives after their Grapevine duplex caught fire.

Grapevine fire officials say Sharva Huffines and 4-year-old Aiden Walker were both trapped until neighbors broke the door.

"All I saw was a bunch of smoke and I saw both of them huddled over in front of the door," said neighbor, Kiera Brewer.

Brewer claims the difference between life and death for the two may have been Dough Aguirre.

He also lives in the grapevine housing authority duplex off North Starnes Street.

"The lady was crying and saying I cant breath, I cant breath and the kid was walking I guess he's short the smoke wasn't hitting him . he was like please help my grandma please help my grandma," said Dough, "It was very surreal."

He dragged both of them outside on the front lawn to safety.

Sharva Huffines is listed in critical condition.

4-year-old Aiden is expected to be ok.

The family's home is now boarded up and much of their charred possessions are on the front lawn.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
