Arlington police are investigating an officer involved shooting that left a man dead on Saturday.

Police say 24-year-old Oshae Terry and a friend were pulled over for a traffic violation in the 2400 block of California lane, around 1:45 Saturday afternoon. Police say the two responding officers smelled marijuana inside the car, and about ten minutes into the stop.

Terry tried to get away, rolling up the windows while the arm of one of the officers was inside the window. That’s when the officer shot into the SUV, killing Terry. The other passenger was not hit. Terry was taken to the hospital where he died. The officer had minor injuries.

Police have not released dash or body cam video, but did released pictures of a Glock extended 29 round magazine, marijuana and ecstasy found in Terry’s SUV. His mother, Shirley Woods, says she wants more information from police about the shooting.

"They just told me your son is dead and I just started weeping and wailing and I said no you're just going to have to tell me something more than my son is dead. You're going to have to tell me what happened.”

Between 2012 and 2016, Terry pleaded guilty to burglary of a building, two charges of possession of marijuana and evading arrest.
