Mosquito tests positive for West Nile in Little Elm

There are mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus in Denton County.

County officials said infected bugs were found last week in Little Elm at Cotton Creek Park on Lake Lewisville.

Signs will be placed around the area to let people know about the risks.

"There is no immediate danger," said Joe Florentino, Little Elm’s assistant town manager. "If residents take the appropriate actions, the chances of a human infection are minimized substantially."

Officials reminded people about the “Four Ds” of prevention – drain standing water, dress in light-colored, long-sleeved clothing, wear DEET repellents and avoid going out at dusk and dawn.
