More water released from North Texas lakes

The Army Corps of Engineers released more water from Lake Ray Roberts and other North Texas lakes on Thursday.

The Denton County lake was at capacity and the flood gates were fully opened about noon.

Some low-lying roads between Ray Roberts and Lewisville could be affected, but residents have not been asked to evacuate as no homes should be in harms way.

Some nearby cattle ranchers opted to move their animals while others took a wait and see approach.

The Corps is also releasing overflow from Lewisville, Grapevine, Lavon, Benbrook and Joe Pool lakes.

More than 3,600 cubic feet per second is currently rushing out toward Lewisville Lake.

The gates could remain open for a few weeks.
