Mesquite HS coach accused of sex with student

A Mesquite High School coach allegedly had sex with a female student, according to police.

Nigel Chandler, 26, turned himself in to police on Wednesday morning and faces a charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student.

Chandler allegedly had sexual relations with an 18-year-old female student who attends Mesquite HS on Feb. 10.

Mesquite ISD administrators contacted Mesquite police after they received a tip about the incident.

The school's website states Chandler was an assistant coach for the Mesquite HS varsity and freshmen teams.

Chandler was able to bond out of jail on Wednesday.
