Mesquite father, son both accused of child sex assault

- A second person who works with children at a Mesquite church is facing charges for child sex assault.

Mesquite police said 65-year-old Larry Allen Winn was arrested on Thursday and booked into the Dallas County jail. His bond was set at $25,000.

He’s accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl. She recently came forward and told investigators Winn assaulted her in February of 2015.

Winn is the bus director for Open Door Baptist Church. He works with children at the church and has been in church leadership for decades, police said.

He’s also the father of 33-year-old Steven Winn, a church youth leader who was arrested last week on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

In that case, police said investigators got a tip about alleged incidents in mid-February involving a 15-year-old victim.

Police would like to talk to anyone who may have had inappropriate contact with either the accused father or son. Tipsters should call the Mesquite Police Department.

Open Door Baptist Church made headlines in 2011 when its former senior pastor, Matthew Jarrell, was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in West Virginia. Jarrell hanged himself in jail before going on trial.
