Mesquite church hit by burglars

Burglars targeted a Mesquite church over the weekend, stealing $7,000 worth of items.

Members of the Unity Praise and Power Ministry noticed the damage to the church doors. The pastor said hours before Sunday service burglars broke in and stole three computers, a keyboard, a guitar and offerings from the alter.

“I felt violated. I was upset. I felt like my privacy had invaded,” said Vanessa Wallace, a church member.

“My initial thought was ‘Oh God, who would do this?’” added Chante’ Calhoun, the pastor’s wife.

The surveillance cameras from a nearby gas station did capture video of the break-in. But, police have not yet released information about the suspects.
