McKinney police looking for suspected identity thief

McKINNEY, Texas - McKinney police hope you will recognize the thief who stole a man’s identity and went shopping.

Surveillance video shows the suspect in a blue suit at Stonebriar Center in Frisco.

Police said he stole a man’s ID and used it to go shopping in McKinney, Allen, Frisco and Plano. He also opened $8,000 in new credit.

The victim, a man named Brian, told FOX 4 he is understandably angry. He didn’t want to share his last name because of privacy concerns.

“You know that you’re up against hours and hours of trying to clear your name on purchases you didn’t make. And it happened right after Christmas. I had just got through spending a bunch of money at Christmas. You don’t want to pay other bills that you certainly didn’t ring up,” Brain said.

He works from home. He said he doesn’t know the man who stole his driver’s license number and social security number to pull off the scheme.
