Mesquite police have released video of two armed robbery suspects in a crime that happened right across from the department.

Surveillance video shows the two walking into a convenience store on West Grubb Drive Wednesday night just before 9 p.m. with their heads and faces covered.

When they stormed into the store, they both pulled their guns on the clerk. One man roamed around the store while the other demanded money.

When the clerk refused to hand over any money, one robber fired multiple shots and hit the clerk in the hand. The clerk is expected to be okay.

“It's really hard to know why they would leave, but it looks like they got frustrated or realized they weren't going to get what they were after,” said Mesquite Police Sgt. Joseph Thompson. “So they left as quickly as they could.”

Police say the two are pretty bold because you can see the police department from the Dairy Mart grocery store.

The two men took off in a 2003-2008 blue Toyota Matrix.
