The March of Dimes "March for Babies" events kicked off at Norbuck Park in Dallas and Panther Island Pavilion at 9 a.m. Some 30,000 people walked the five miles in Dallas. Several families who experienced a premature birth were on at at both events along with others who raised money for research and education.The March of Dimes says 1 in 8 babies is born prematurely each year in North Texas. Premature birth is also the number one killer of newborns. The organization has dedicated the last 75 years to research, education, vaccines and breakthroughs.
