Law enforcement officials in Rockwall have captured the suspect who ran from officers during a traffic stop.

Rockwall police said officers pulled the man over around 9:30 a.m. Thursday and tried to take him into custody. But, he escaped and ran into a nearby wooded area.

The man, described as a black male in his 50s, was seen running behind a business in the 1500 block of the Intestate 30 service road.

Several schools in that area restricted outdoor activities because of the police activity, Rockwall ISD said.

Mounted officers, K-9 units and a police helicopter searched for the suspect until about 11:30 a.m. When they found him he was taken into custody without incident, the Rockwall Sheriff’s Office said.

The man’s identity has not yet been released and police have not yet said why he was wanted.
