Man surrenders peacefully in Plano standoff

A police standoff ended peacefully in North Plano after more than three hours. Police received a call around 3 o'clock Wednesday morning about a shooting at an apartment complex near Preston Road and Quincy Lane.

Police say a man fired shots at a woman as she tried to leave in her car. The two had been involved in an argument before the shooting. Police say the woman drove away and called 9-1-1. The man went back inside the apartment.

Police made contact with the man in the apartment, but police say he was uncooperative. The SWAT team was called and police asked other residents in the apartment complex to stay inside until they could be evacuated one by one.

A robot was sent to the man's door and police communicated with the man for about 45 minutes. The man surrendered and was taken into custody. No one was hurt.
