Man accused in father's murder now in custody

The Plano man suspected of murdering his father and leaving the body in a freezer is now in police custody.

U.S. Marshals arrested 28-year-old Kenneth Midgley Jr. on Tuesday.  He was wanted for the death of 50-year-old Kenneth Midgley Sr. at their home near Preston Road and Legacy Drive earlier this month.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, police got a call from a concerned relative on April 15. She told officers she had not heard from her father in several days. Her brother also told their mother, “You can’t talk to Dad because he’s not alive.”

Responding officers found a handwritten note in the Midgley’s home. It said, “It’s in the freezer” and including a confession about something bad happening, the affidavit states.

Midgley Sr.’s body was found wrapped in a blue tarp in a freezer in the garage. Officers also found a bloody steel rod and evidence of a struggle in the garage, the police document states.

Last week border patrol claimed to have video of Midgley Jr. driving into Mexico. It’s not yet clear where he was captured but Plano police said he is now in the Collin County jail.

He is facing murder charges. Family members opted not to speak publicly after news of the arrest.
