Local youth group stuck in D.C. because of the blizzard

Members of a church youth group from Dallas are stuck in Maryland trying to get home from a weekend event.

The 28 students from Bishop Dunne Catholic School and a Duncanville church travelled to a pro-life rally in D.C. on Friday.

They hoped to get out of town before the blizzard, but the area got more than 2 feet of snow before they could leave.

They are now camping out at a home next to a church. Their bus trip as turned into a spiritual retreat.

“It’s been a really big blessing. We were worried at first with all the winter storm coming. We were worried about not having power, enough heat, groceries. But we’ve been so surprised by the amount of love and care that’s been shown to us as a group. Yea, we’ve been having the time of our lives,” said Nicholas Brandt, a teacher at Bishop Dunne.

Other groups on the way home from the same event weren’t as lucky. They’re stuck in buses on the snowy highways.
