Fort Worth leaders requesting investigation into claims of voter intimidation

A Texas state representative and the United Hispanic Council are asking the U.S. Justice Department to investigate what they say is voter intimidation in North Fort Worth.

Democrat Ramon Romero, of Fort Worth, says six Latino senior citizens in his district told him that people came to their homes and interrogated them about how they were voting. Romero says those six people told him they were scared and might not vote.

Romero says he taught several Latino senior citizens how to vote using mail-in ballots for their convenience. He feels like those people are now being retaliated against, and intimidated to not vote in this presidential election, which could be a violation of the voting rights act.

The United Hispanic Council has sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice asking for an investigation.

"The people are asking questions about their specific voting habits, namely how and why they voted by mail and then telling them that what they did could possibly have been illegal” said Rep. Romero.

There is a Republican campaign manager named Aaron Harris with Direct Action Texas who says he has been investigation voter fraud in Tarrant County. Romero believes it could be him, or people he’s associated with who are questioning the seniors.

Fox 4 has contacted Harris for comment, but has not heard back.
