At least seven vehicles were damaged in the morning after hitting the pothole, which was in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near Bonnie View Road.
It was fixed by Tuesday night.
A similar pothole opened up shut down parts of Interstate 35 in Denton last week.
Transportation leaders say that the pothole problem will get worse before it gets better, and say that the area's ever-changing weather is to blame.
A TxDOT spokesperson told FOX 4 the following on Tuesday:
"All claims should be submitted in the form of a letter to the Occupational Safety Division of TxDOT. Please be as descriptive as possible (name, date, time, location, and a description of the issue).
TxDOT - Occupational Safety Division
P.O. Box 149148
Austin, TX 78714"
