Kaufman County family's home destroyed by fire
TERRELL, Texas - A family escaped a house fire overnight in Kaufman County, but one of their pets did not.
The College Mound Fire Department shared photos of the home on Country Road 136 near Terrell fully engulfed in flames. The department responded, along with Terrell and Kaufman volunteer firefighters.
Officials said a man, woman and their teenage son managed to escape. The boy was taken to a local hospital for minor smoke inhalation.
The family’s dog escaped, but their cat was found dead in the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
