Kaufman Co. family escapes overnight fire

Three people escaped a house fire in North Texas Tuesday night.

The fire started around 10:30 p.m. in a carport and spread to a mobile home on Joy Lane near Crandall, which is in rural Kaufman County southeast of Dallas.

Three people were home at the time. They got out safely before firefighters arrived.

It took firefighters from Crandall, Forney, Seagoville and Kaufman about 30 minutes put out the flames. The home was heavily damaged.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
