Irving officer hurt in DWI crash

An Irving police officer was hurt Friday morning in a car crash.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. as the officer while working traffic control in the construction zone at Highway 114 and O’Connor Road.

Police said the driver of a silver Jaguar slammed into the back of his squad car even though his emergency lights were on.

The impact knocked the officer’s squad car off the highway and into the grassy median. The crash happened in front of a Mothers Against Drunk Driving office.

The officer was taken to the hospital with a concussion and several broken ribs. His injuries are not life threatening, police said.

The driver of the Jaguar, Nicole Arreola, was not hurt. She was arrested at the scene after failing a field sobriety test.
