Inmate escapes on the way to Dallas County jail

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an inmate who escaped Monday morning while being transported.

Justin Gonzalez, 25, was handcuffed to another inmate as he was being taken from the Garland city jail to the Dallas County jail.

He somehow managed to get out of the handcuffs, opened the back door of the van and jumped out near Shiloh Road and Forest Lane in Garland.

He was barefoot at the time and wearing a yellow or green vest with blue jeans.

Gonzalez was in custody for the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He also has a criminal past that includes weapons and drug charges.

Anyone who spots him should contact the sheriff’s department at 214-749-8641.
