A Greenville fire truck crashed into a Dairy Queen off Highway 380 in Farmersville on Wednesday morning, injuring three people.

According to the city of Greenville, the fire truck was being returned to the city by an employee from Siddons-Marton, a dealer and service center in Denton.

For some reason the driver lost control on Highway 380 in Farmersville, jumped the median and slammed into the side of the restaurant.

A customer, an employee and the truck driver were injured in the crash, but their injuries were not life threatening.

The driver told responders on the scene that the steering wheel had locked up.

Clayton Hill had just finished meeting his granddad for breakfast and was in the parking lot when the fire truck went whizzing by just feet away. He immediately ran to help the trapped driver, climbing through the busted windshield and undoing the man’s seatbelt.

“It was like a video game just seeing it go,” Hill said. “I was just in shock I couldn't move for a second.”

No city of Greenville employees were in the truck at the time.
