Hometown Hero: Lori Anderson

Lori Anderson worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years. She was at the post office on Oak Lawn in Dallas which is down the street from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. When hospital employees would collect the mail, they'd brag on Texas Scottish Rite. Lori was intrigued. She drove by and said "that doesn't look like a hospital, it looks like a place where children have fun."

After Lori retired, she took the tour and was hooked. Now she volunteers in the gift shop every Thursday. She loves helping customers, ringing up sales and stocking store shelves. She's a flex volunteer so she can also end up anywhere she's needed.

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children has 60 departments where volunteers are needed. If you're interested call 214.559.7825 and ask for the volunteer office.
