Hometown Hero: Fairy Tale Closet

For the second year, the Dallas Public Library is thinking prom -- the 29 libraries part of the Dallas Public Library system are accepting bridesmaids' gowns, evening gowns and prom dresses for the 2015 prom.

Jewelry, shoes and evening bags are also being gratefully accepted.

The fabulous fashions will be given free of charge to girls who wouldn't be able to glam up for prom because their parents are on tight budgets.

Melissa Dease with the Dallas Public Library came up with the idea, and last year, she and her library volunteers helped dress 100 girls for prom.

They hope to dress even more this year, but they need your help. From now to March 7, you can drop off prom finery to any of the city's public libraries -- just tell them it's for the Fairy Tale Closet.

Girls who need help with prom should call and make an appointment at either the Martin Luther King, Jr. branch library or the Pleasant Grove branch library.

Call 214-670-0344 to make an appointment at the MLK branch library for March 21, or call 214-670-0965 to make an appointment at the Pleasant Grove branch for March 28.

If you have general questions or want to make a huge donation, call library officials at 214-670-7809 and tell then you want to be a fairy godparent for the Fairy Tale Closet.
