Hit-and-run driver injures 2 UNT students

Two University of North Texas students were hurt by a hit-and-run driver over the weekend.

They said the driver of a maroon pickup truck hit them as they were walking near Denton square. The driver left the scene.

“I hear an engine rev up, I looked over my shoulder and see this pickup truck. Then he veers over to the right and smashes over me and Bobby. I hit the curb and I see Bobby hit the concrete barrier. And after that I see the car. He didn’t slow down or anything, just kept driving,” said Zachary Adams.

Adams suffered a concussion. His roommate has broken ribs and a fractured arm.

Relatives want the hit-and-run driver to come forward.

“Please do the right thing. Do the right thing. Just imagine if it had happened to yourself or someone in your family. You know in your heart what the right thing is to do. Please know that these young men will not have closure until they do come forward,” said Carol Acosta, whose son was hit.

Police said they found the truck they believe was involved, but they have not found the driver.
