Hit-and-run driver critically injures 13-year-old boy

A mother is asking for help after her son was hit by driver in Southeast Dallas.

Witnesses say a woman ran over 13-year-old Maurice Winsley, while he was crossing Buckner Boulevard, and sped off. He is now at Children’s hospital in Dallas in critical condition.

Maurice’s mother, Monica, says it happened around 3:45 Friday afternoon. She was at work when she got a phone call saying her son had been hurt. She didn’t know how bad it was until she got to the hospital.

Witnesses say the driver was in a Ford Mustang. She stopped briefly, drove around Maurice, then kept on going. His mom posted photos to her Facebook page, informing family and friends that “both of his legs were broken, (he had) bleeding on his brain, little internal bleeding, and a ligament in his cervical spine was injured.”

His mother also says she is praying for her son, and the woman who hit him.
