High-speed chase ends in Dallas

A high-speed chase that began in Navarro County ended once the driver hit traffic in Dallas Monday morning.

A sheriff’s deputy in Navarro County tried to pull over a speeding maroon pickup truck around 7 a.m. But the driver wouldn't stop and took off at a high speed.

The driver reached speeds over 100 miles per hour as he traveled north on Interstate 45 through Ellis County and into Dallas County. At times he drove on the shoulder of the interstate.

But the driver ran into some traffic in Downtown Dallas.  He took the Woodall Rodgers Freeway to Interstate 35 and eventually turned onto the Dallas North Tollway.  He got off the tollway on Lemmon Avenue and stopped near the Lomo Alto Drive.

Officers with their guns drawn quickly surrounded the truck and forced the driver to surrender. He is now in custody and facing charges for felony evading arrest.

Despite the dangerous speeds, no one was hurt during the chase.
