Ft. Worth store clerk shoots, kills robbery suspect

A store clerk shot and killed a suspect Wednesday during an armed robbery, according to Fort Worth police.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. The store is located at the corner of Lincoln and Northwest 16th in the Northside community of Fort Worth.

The clerk at this grocery store told police that three men came into his store. The first asked him for money and the second suspect had a shotgun.

Just as the clerk handed the first suspect his wallet, police say the clerk pulled a handgun out and shot the suspect carrying the gun.

The other two suspects ran out of the store.

"It's always permissible to defend yourself," said Sgt. Steve Enright with the Fort Worth Police Department. "He felt in fear of his life having a shotgun pointed at him and believed he was being robbed, so it's potentially an acceptable response."

The store had surveillance cameras visible behind the door, but it's unclear what, if anything, they captured.
