Frisco High School students protest principal's demotion

Hundreds of students walked out of Frisco High School Tuesday to protest what they consider the unfair demotion of their principal.

Streets were closed as the students marched about two miles to the school district's administration building.

Principal Sylvia Palacios will return next fall as the assistant principal at the district's alternative school.

Many of the students feel the move is punishment for Palacios because she would not cater to a few influential parents.

The school board reportedly sent an email to parents acknowledging the demotion, but only saying it was in the best interest of students.

There is also a social media campaign and online petition supporting Palacios.
