Hometown Heroes: Skyline Shoes

Dallas ISD’s Skyline High School students are in a foot race against time. By Dec. 13, they need to raise 300 bags of gently worn shoes for women, men and children.

Each bag must contain 25 pair of shoes.

The footwear will be shipped to Haiti and Honduras and given to people there who will start a business to refurbish the shoes and sell them, thus allowing them to start a business and help their family and community.

So far, the Skyline Raiders have 35 bags of shoes. If they reach their goal of 300 bags, Funds2org will give Skyline High School $3,000 for college scholarships for the Class of 2016.

In order for a Skyline senior to be eligible, they must be a school leader and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

If they don't raise the 300 bags, they'll get a percentage of what they raise for college scholarships, but they're shooting for the 300 bags or more.

This footwear donation isn't just for Skyline students. If you'd like to help them reach their goal, you can donate gently worn shoes, boots and even house shoes and take them to Skyline High at 7777 Forney Road, Dallas, 75227.

If you have a large donation, the Skyline PTSA will make it easy and come to you to pick up your shoes. You can call 214-538-1090 to schedule that.
