Hometown Heroes: Cancer Garage Sale

Get ready to shop, save and help raise money to fund cancer research.

The fifth annual Cancer Garage Sale starts Thursday, Aug. 20. Prices range from 25 cents to $200.

There will be 32 neatly organized rooms filled with back-to-school items, clothes for the entire family, tools, kitchenware, furniture, holiday decorations, toys, books, office equipment and much more.

Last year, the Cancer Garage Sale raised more than $30,000 and donated all of it to the American Cancer Society to fund research.

Susan Lee and her daughter held a garage sale five years ago, when her husband was diagnosed with cancer. He's in another cancer fight.
Danielle Dennis is an ovarian cancer survivor, and she's joined Susan and the other volunteers to raise life-saving research money.

This Texas-size sale is no longer in Susan's garage. You'll find it in the Trinity North Medical Building at 6053 Main Street in The Colony.

Signs will direct you to the second floor.

The hours are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 and 22 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 23.

In addition to shopping, the Cancer Garage Sale also accepts donated items that are new or gently used.
