Hometown Hero: Brianna Fagan

Brianna Fagan is passionate about animals. The 13-year-old started raising money for Haltom City Animal Care And Adoption Center when she was 5-years-old.  Now, she's will use her 14th birthday in April to raise more money for the cats and dogs needing forever homes.

Every Saturday, Brianna volunteers at HCACAAC, cleaning cages and litter boxes, walking and socializing with dogs, feeding the animals and just jumping in to help where she can. Brianna is passionate about animals and their safety.

She urges anyone who can no longer care for their animals to surrender them to a shelter.  Leaving them on the street, she says is "careless and simply cruel". They've formed a bond with their owners and need to be given the chance to have a new home.

On April 16 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Brianna will hold a "Fourteen for Fido" birthday celebration at Russell Feed and Supply, 5000 E. Belknap in Haltom City.  There will be games, prizes, fun and birthday cake. Brianna will celebrate her birthday at this even. Instead of presents, she's asking for donations to help the Haltom City Animal Care and Adoption Center.

The day FOX4 was at the shelter, there were four cats and nine dogs looking for forever homes.  If you'd like to adopt the address is 5312 Midway Road in Haltom City.  If you'd like to volunteer the number is 817.759.2124

Fagan plans to attend Texas A&M Galveston to double major in marine biology and veterinary medicine.
