Hometown Hero: Ares Alonso

8-year-old Ares Alonso was shopping with his mom, Erica,  when she asked what he wanted from Santa. Ares to his mom, "I really don't need anything. Can we buy gifts for other people in need?"  This second grader had learned that not everyone grows up the way he does.

That's how "Keep Ellis County Warm" got started.  From now until December 5, you can drop off new winter gear at various donation boxes in Waxahachie. Go to Facebook and "Keep Ellis County Warm" to learn where to donate new winter hats, mittens, socks, scarves and jackets for girls, boys and senior citizens.  All of the items will be given to non-profits in Ellis County.

Felty Elementary School in Waxahachie is one of the donation locations, and Ares is grateful to his schoolmates for being in the giving spirit and donating new winter clothing.
