Hometown Heroes: The Joy Project

In sixteen years The Bunny Project has donated more than 36,000 new, plush toys to patients at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth. This great give-back was started by 5-year-old Haley Whatley.

Now, Haley is 21 years old and married.  The second leader of Haley's project is Trudie Troublefield. Trudie is 16 and has always looked up to Haley. Trudie joined the plush toy drive when she was a first grader.

Trudie has re-named The Bunny Drive in honor of Haley, whose middle name in Joy.  The Joy Project brings joy to sick children by donating stuffed bunnies, bears and other plush toys.  It's also been expanded to include Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas.

In addition, Trudie and her Joy Ambassadors are collecting money to support the kid's clothing drive at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth.

American Airlines, Build-A-Bear and other Tarrant County businesses are supporters.  Students in the Birdville and Carroll ISD's and at Trudies school , Westlake Academy, make this happen every year.
