Four boys rescued from rain-swollen Dallas creek

Four kids had a close call in Northeast Dallas on Wednesday afternoon in rising and rushing water.

Dallas Fire-Rescue says four boys around the age of 11 had just gotten out of school and decided they were going to play along a nearby creek.

That's when the water came up. The boys couldn't go any farther and couldn't climb up the embankment -- they were stuck.

The fire department says one of the boys jumped into the creek, swam to the other side and went to a nearby home to call 911.

Texas Task Force One high water rescue teams responded and got the three other friends to safety.

They all reunited a short time later.

Each of the boys, including one who lost a shoe, were checked out by paramedics and released to their parents.
