Family and police officers from across the nation were in Fort Worth on Friday to pay tribute to fallen Officer Garrett Hull.

The private service was held at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth and was followed by a motorcade to a nearby cemetery. The department streamed the funeral online.

Hull was shot and killed one week ago during an undercover operation. He leaves behind a wife and two daughters.

Chief Joel Fitzgerald spoke directly to the family during the service.

“We know we'll be able to provide the love and support necessary for you all and for each one of the officers here affected to build that kind of resilience that we'll need to press on. We can never replace Garrett. Sabrina, there are 2,200 of us who will die trying,” Fitzgerald said.

hull's body was escorted to Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth as hundreds of people lined the procession route.

Even with on and off rain, people stayed outside holding signs and saluting. They said it's a little sacrifice for them to honor a man who gave his life protecting his community.

“They put it all on the line this is the least we can do for them,” said Scott Gidley.

Supporters came from across North Texas, Austin, Waco, Oklahoma City among other places.

Several local departments stepped up to cover patrols so that hull's friends could attend the funeral.
