It’s a good thing Fort Worth firefighters were on standby for Wednesday night’s fireworks show. They had to put out some brush fires during the show.
The Panther Island fireworks show along the Trinity River drew a huge crowd. But sometimes with even the highly professional shows, things don’t go exactly according to plan.
Sparks from the fireworks ignited a small grass fire and interrupted the show for a few minutes.
Firefighters were prepared for the possibility, especially considering the dry conditions in Tarrant County. They quickly responded and put out the flames.
Later during the finale, the dazzling pyrotechnics started another grass fire. Again, firefighters acted quickly and no one was hurt.
The Fort Worth Fire Department shared a map that shows all of the amazing number of calls it received about illegal fireworks during just one hour late Wednesday night.
The police department estimates there were about 1500 calls to the hotline during the course of the night.
