One person is dead after a crash on the President George Bush Turnpike in Carrollton early Wednesday morning.

State troopers believe the driver of a black car was trying to change a flat tire on the southbound side of the road near Belt Line Road around 3:30 a.m. when he was hit by an SUV.

The impact pushed the first car into the main lanes of traffic and it was again hit by a second car.

The driver of the first car who had been trying to change the tire was killed immediately. A passenger in that car was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two people in the second car were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The freeway is still shut down in the area for an investigation.
