Ethan Couch attorneys: teen should be back in Texas by mid-February

The U.S. attorneys for affluenza teen Ethan Couch said Wednesday couch is expected to return to Texas from Mexico in the next few weeks.

The attorneys said Tuesday that Couch had given up his fight against deportation to Texas. In a statement Wednesday he said he expects Couch to be at a Feb. 19 probation hearing in Fort Worth.

Tuesday's hearing on possibly transferring his probation from juvenile to adult court was postponed until that mid-February date.

“We further anticipate that, with Ethan personally present for the proceedings, the Court will lawfully transfer Ethan's probation to an appropriate Tarrant County District Court,” said Couch lawyers Scott Brown and Wm. Reagan Wynn in a statement.

Couch is being investigated for violating his 10-year probation sentence after killing four people in a drunk driving crash in 2013.

Ethan and his mother Tonya fled to Mexico after prosecutors began investigating whether he'd violated his probation when he appeared to be in a beer pong party video that surfaced online in late 2015.
